Michele is a friendly and compassionate person who is interested in individuals and their life stories. She brings to her work a breadth of experience, having prior to psychological practice attained a bachelors degree in fine art and teaching.
Michele was born in Sri-Lanka and immigrated to Australia as a teenager. As such she is interested in multicultural issues, community building and has volunteered in mental health charities in India and Sri-Lanka. Michele volunteers as a counsellor for Vets for Compassion.
Having graduated psychology and becoming a psychologist, she has worked as a school counsellor and as a psychologist working as an inpatient therapist and in the outpatient therapy program at Delmont Private Hospital in Glen Iris, Victoria.
She is familiar with dealing with the clinical issues faced by people who require support in the management of stress, anxiety and depression. Michele enjoys working in conjunction with medical and allied health professionals.
Prior to psychology, Michele has worked as a secondary teacher in both state secondary schools and in independent schools, and as such is familiar with the difficulties children face during their education.
Michele's initial degree is in Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking), after which she completed a Post Graduate Degree in Education.
Michele has travelled extensively and enjoys wide range of interests, which include the enjoyment of art, music, film, literature, cooking and entertaining friends. She is committed to the wellbeing of animals.
Michele aims to provide a warm, relaxed and effective therapeutic relationship with her clients. She is keenly interested in the personalised dynamic process the therapeutic relationship creates.
